Gamescom 2022 Games Highlights

Finally Gamescom again! Finally new exciting games that I can introduce to you! So without much ado, I'll start with the Gamescom 2022 game highlights :

The Wandering Village

Poisonous spores have spread across the world and now we start a new life on the back of the gigantic animal called Onbu . In The Wandering Village, a playful parallel is drawn to real life on Earth. As players, we decide whether we want to live peacefully in harmony with Onbu or behave like a tick and exploit him.

The unusual graphic style immediately catches your eye and I'm definitely excited to see what it will be like living with Onbu! We don't have to wait long for the release, as The Wandering Village will be released in September 2022 !

Platform: PC/Steam
Release: September 14, 2022

Fall of Porcupine

We start as a newly qualified doctor named Finley in St Ursula's Hospital. In mini-games we take care of patients and have to complete rounds with our strict boss. But since doctors are not machines, they also have a social life, which is not always easy. You get to know lots of cute characters, such as Pina, the flower seller.

The big, round eyes of the characters and the incredibly cute look of Fall of Porcupine are deceptive, because here too an important topic is addressed in a playful way. Buntspecht Games has looked at our healthcare system and addresses many weak points and difficult circumstances in their game.

A demo was available to play at Gamescom, which includes the prologue of Fall of Porcupine. The great thing is that you can also play the demo at home for free !

Platform: PC (Steam & GOG), Switch, XBOX One/X/S, Playstation
Release: Q4/2022

Endling - Extinction is Forever

In Endling we play the last fox on earth . And as if that wasn't enough pressure, we also have little fox cubs that we have to guide through a ruined world. Endling has a beautiful atmosphere with a very important background! This game draws attention to the strong and destructive influences of humans and shows the effects this has on nature.

I would also like to mention that the developers themselves said that their game is beautiful enough to make you cry ! So, just in case, have your tissues ready! We will soon experience the adventure with the fox lady together, so feel free to check out my Twitch channel.

Platform: PC (Steam, Epic & GOG), PS4, XBOX One, Switch
Release: Already available!

Park Beyond

The name says it all, because as a theme park owner you can build beyond your own limits! Gravity or other unimportant laws of physics should not be a problem here, as it is possible to integrate completely crazy roller coaster elements , such as cannons or octopuses. Park Beyond also wants to leave no opportunity unused when it comes to buildings, as these can also be completely customized.

In addition to limitless building options, we can also expect a complete story campaign and a comprehensive management tool . With this you can manage your employees, identify new trends, analyze visitor satisfaction and much more!

So all of you who enjoy living in a creative frenzy and love parks can look forward to 2023, because that's the year Park Beyond will be released.

Platform: PC, PS5, XBOX Series X/S
Release: 2023

Floodland

Attention strategy game fans, Floodland is definitely something for you! In this game, climate change has already taken its toll: a large part of the world has been flooded.

Now it's up to us to guide a few survivors through these new circumstances. We set up a camp, take care of food and supplies, and later research lost technologies. We can also explore the surroundings, which are completely shrouded in fog at the beginning.

We were able to play the tutorial at Gamescom and although the game deals with serious topics, the developers have designed it incredibly well . The gradual complexity, with the extensive skill tree and laws , is not overwhelming at first, but creates the necessary excitement to help your survivors progress.

Platform: PC/Steam
Release: November 15, 2022

Age of Darkness: Final Stand

You are the last people to rise up against the darkness! In the dark strategy game Age of Darkness: Final Stand you have to show true fighting spirit: together with your hero and your units you fight against up to 70,000 enemies - simultaneously - and rebuild your empire in the process. In doing so you try, in the truest sense of the word, to bring light into the darkness and make the world a better place again.

What I particularly like about Age of Darkness: Final Stand is that the developers decided to go for Early Access so they could build the game WITH the community. A lot of new content has been announced, from story to new characters. So we can look forward to a lot of playtime!

Platform: PC/Steam
Release: Already in Early Access

Conclusion on the Gamescom 2022 game highlights : The pandemic and climate change have not spared the gaming world either, as these topics have been taken up by many games. Many developers told us that it is important to them to draw attention to certain grievances. Personally, I think this is a nice and right turnaround, because alongside all the games that are supposed to give us a good time, there are also those that make us think. Broadening your horizons can never be a bad thing!
