State Of Decay 2 - 10 Tips & Tricks
We've been waiting for the game for a long time and now the time has come! Here are ten State of Decay 2 tips and tricks for survival!
1. Loot, loot, loot
The be-all and end-all of a zombie apocalypse is the important loot that lies around everywhere and there is a hell of a lot of it to be found in State of Decay . Sometimes a bit too much, so only take the important things with you at the beginning, such as materials, food, etc. You can collect luxury items later if you want to trade. If you are travelling long distances, you should take a car with you. You can then pack more stuff (especially important: several supply bags ) into the trunk. Sports cars have 3 free slots , larger vehicles such as pickups have 6 slots , and vans even have 8 slots .
2. The cure for the blood plague
A brand new addition is the cure for the blood plague . You need 5 plague samples for this, which you get from red-eyed zombies . But not every blood plague zombie drops a sample like this! When you have 5 samples, you can make the cure in your infirmary in the base. But you can only make it if you have completed the corresponding quest at the beginning .
3. Change character
At some point your character will get tired and quickly lose stamina. In co-op mode, the host can simply go to the bedroom in the base and change characters there , or he can talk to other characters . His fellow players can also only change characters in the base. To do this, you have to go to the menu -> Community -> and then select character .
4. More space for your stuff
After all the looting, the warehouse is slowly getting cramped and you can no longer store supply bags. Don't worry, once you have collected enough building materials, you can upgrade the warehouse . This means there is more space for all the resources. A second upgrade is also possible, but this time you have to choose between three main areas :
5. New people for your team
Do you need new people to survive with you? Who will either keep watch in the base or go looting with you? During the game you will occasionally find a few abandoned souls waiting for a new home, but you can also speed up the process by using the radio . It costs 150 influence , but it's worth it!
6. Be nice to the neighbors
They can be pretty annoying in the long run, but you shouldn't ignore calls for help from neighbors. The game is based on give and take , so people can be pretty useful at some point. They can help you with missions - for a fee through influence - or you can trade with them. But if you don't feel like dealing with them, they may ignore your calls for help or even attack you.
7. The Super Zombies/Freaks
In addition to the normal immortals, there are also the freaks , who have special characteristics and are harder to kill.
Screamers: Super loud zombies that temporarily incapacitate you when they scream, thereby attracting more zombies. A well-aimed headshot and then all is quiet!
SWAT Zombie: Well-packed zombies that are not easily destroyed by gunfire. That's why close combat is the best solution.
Bloated: Zombies with big bellies, if they burst and you are nearby, life is drained. Killing them with a headshot and just don't run them over with a car, that drains a lot of life!
Raging Man: Aggressive and agile comrade, can finish you off in close combat in Nuh. A targeted headshot and he's finished.
Colossus: Huge guy that can cut you in half. No close combat or auto use, because he would destroy both. That's why only several targeted headshots help.
Zombie herd: Usually there are 1-2 freaks and several normal zombies in a herd. It's best to take a few people with you and kill them all with melee and ranged weapons .
Zombie Horde: Zombies love walking in groups. You can avoid them by crouching or, best of all, mow them down with a car .
Plague Heart: Brand new! You can attack the heart with shots and explosives . But be careful, you can't kill it with melee weapons because it does a lot of damage through the haze. Also, several zombies will always come to defend it. So always take at least one other person with you.
8. Gain influence
Influence is an important part of the game because it gives you more functions, like summoning a car or building an outpost/new home base. You gain more influence by completing missions , helping neighbors and friends, or destroying zombie herds and blood plague hearts. But the quickest way to gain influence is by trading with other survivors.
9. Do not strain the vehicles
It's great fun at first to knock down loads of zombies with your car, but it's not good for the vehicle in the long run. They can break down one by one until they smoke from the engine compartment and explode soon after. Then it's game over for the vehicle, it won't make a sound. So try to use the car only as a means of transport and additional storage space . You can repair them with toolkits , but they're relatively rare, and driving back and forth just wastes petrol . The latter also has to be used sparingly , because the tank runs out very quickly .
10. Read a book and skill properly
You can now find books in State of Decay 2, read them and learn new skill areas . It's definitely worth it, as some areas in your base can only be expanded if you have the corresponding skill. You can find more detailed information about the skills on Gamesheros .
I hope you have fun surviving! Francy
