Make a Christmas wreath from balls and coat hangers

There are these wonderful Christmas wreaths made of lots of Christmas baubles, they are so beautiful that I spent ages looking for a suitable one. Unfortunately, they were either too small, too expensive or contained baubles in color combinations that didn't match the rest of the Christmas decorations. So the motto is: If it doesn't fit, make it fit! Without further ado, I bought some cheap Christmas baubles and a wire coat hanger and started the project of making a Christmas wreath!

You need the following materials

  • Christmas balls in 2-3 sizes
  • wire coat hangers
  • combination pliers
  • hot glue gun

The balls for making Christmas wreaths should ideally be made of plastic so that you can enjoy your wreath for a long time and you can't hurt yourself on them. I got my balls cheaply at Ikea, where they were already reduced at the beginning of December!

How to make a Christmas wreath out of balls

1) First, the coat hanger has to be changed from its original shape into a round one, and the best way to do this is to use combination pliers. This requires a bit of strength, but after that it won't be so difficult, I promise!

2) Now the balls are threaded like pearls. The large and medium balls can be inserted here and it is best to see what fits well together.

3 ) If no more balls fit on, twist the two wire ends together so that the wreath doesn't open up again. This is best done with combination pliers and then it's time to glue! The balls can overlap, the main thing is that everything is nice and tight and nothing wobbles. If gaps appear, you can simply cover them with medium and small balls and glue them on.

4) In the last step, you are completely free to design your Christmas wreath. A little glitter, fir branches or a big bow? Add whatever you like!

I hope you like this little tutorial on how to make a Christmas wreath! The great thing about it is that you can take a lot of liberties that aren't possible with a purchased wreath with Christmas balls.

In any case, I would be happy if you share your final results on Instagram and tag me @plixtonblog so I can admire your masterpieces :)
