8 Secret Neighbor Tips & Tricks

Now it's happened, you're locked in a big house with 5 other children and you have to get out. But be careful, one of the children isn't a child at all! It's the neighbor who's coming to get you...

Secret Neighbor is the latest title from developers Dynamic Pixels and Hologryph . The multiplayer spin-off of Hello Neighbor is published by TinyBuild . I was able to test the alpha and have put together 8 Secret Neighbor tips for you.

1. Break the window

The good thing about the game is that you don't take any fall damage if you jump out of the window. If you have to get away quickly and can't find a way out, there's only one thing you can do: grab an object and throw it through the window! The glass will shatter and you can jump out.

2. Aim and hit

This is a tip for both sides. The neighbor is never faster than the child, so an object in your hand is always very important. He can use it to stun the child and catch up with him. The same goes for children, because they can throw the object at his head. This buys you time and can possibly escape from the neighbor.
For beginners, a long, straight path, such as a hallway, is ideal for stunning the opponent (whether small or large). Professionals can also do this at short distances. This can be particularly effective against the neighbor.

3. The Neighbor's Weapons

Children can mainly only throw objects or use keys to unlock the door. The neighbor has a bit more equipment. These are all the gadgets, two of which he can take into the game:

Mask: This allows him to transform into any other child at will.
Radar: When activated, it can detect the silhouettes of children.
Pumpkin Seed: He transforms into a pumpkin and can thus camouflage himself.

4. The Weapons of Children

Objects: You can throw all objects at your neighbor's head to stun him.
Chairs: They can be thrown or placed under the handle of closed doors. It takes the neighbor forever to get through that door.

5. Work in a team

As soon as it is discovered who the killer is, you should team up with other kids. If a child is caught, the others can still save him or her by throwing objects at the neighbor. He will then let go of the child and the child can escape.

6. Listen to the sounds

Sounds that you hear or make are very important in the game. They can guide you or give yourself away.
Loud squeaking: A lock has just been opened.
A short, loud sound: When you hear it, it's almost too late, because your neighbor is right in front of, next to or behind you!
Crows' cries: You can not only hear them, but also see them: the crow. It sits near a key.
Volume of other players: If you and your fellow players are using in-game voice chat, you can use the volume to determine whether they are near you. If their voices are faint or not audible at all, the other players are far away.

7. Pay attention to your movements

As a child, you can move in three different ways: running, walking, creeping . All three types of movement are audible to different degrees, both for the children and the neighbors. Running creates loud noises, walking is also audible, but not too loud. If you creep, no one will hear you.

8. Memorize the surroundings

After a few rounds, you should have a rough or very precise idea of the house with all its nooks and crannies in your head. There is nothing more annoying than wandering around the house for ages with a key and not knowing where the door is. It is also important to know your escape routes.
