I've been looking for the Early Access game They are Billions for a few days now and I'm excited about it for good reason. Since I've already played it a few times on stream and some people have asked me what the game is about, I've put together a short summary for you.
What's it about? - They Are Billions Test
They are Billions is a mixture of construction, strategy and survival game with billions of zombies. The apocalypse has struck humanity and now it is up to us and a few survivors to save them.
The game is all about finding the right balance between obtaining food and materials, expanding and defending areas and not getting overrun by hordes of zombies. The engine can handle 22,000 zombies at the same time.
What is so special about the game?
It's hard. Damn hard! Far too many zombies are besieging the fragile colony and, in contrast to the masses, you only have a handful of warriors who can fight them. Waves of zombies are constantly breaking in and you have to stop them with weapons, walls, ballistae and machine guns. Meanwhile, production has to run smoothly.
The difficulty level depends on the settings at the start of the game. 10% is the lowest and 500% is the highest so far.
The good thing is that we are not completely on the losing side. There is the pause button , which is used quite often so that you can think about your next move. This also saves the lives of one or two settlers.
How can you lose?
The main house, the command center , is the heart of our colony. If this house is attacked and you do not intervene with your warriors in time, the center will be destroyed and you will lose the game.
What is the goal?
The aim of the game is to survive for as many days as you set at the beginning. This can be 150, 120, 100 or 80 days. The fewer days, the more difficult it is to hold back the zombies. A few days before the end, zombies will stream in from all directions to invade the core of the colony. If you manage to eliminate all zombies, you win.
Early Access and then?
Since the game is still in Early Access, we can look forward to new content over the course of the year. Numantian Games has already announced a campaign mode in which you will not only learn about the background of the apocalypse. The colonies can apparently also be connected with railways.
