Taste in Geralt's World

You've watched the Witcher series, read the books or played the games and have always wondered: What does the Swallow potion actually taste like? There is now an answer to this and many other culinary questions - the unofficial The Witcher cookbook from Riva Verlag .

Food blogger, photographer and passionate cook Patrick Rosenthal has conjured up a total of 50 imaginative recipes that revolve around the Witcher world. Here you can put together your own 3-course menu in three categories - hearty dishes, sweets & drinks.

Unofficial The Witcher Cookbook Recipe: Tarte Tatin

Tarte Tatin is a traditional French apple pie. What's special about Tarte Tatin? The caramel layer that forms on the bottom of the pan when it's baked. So delicious. No wonder Geralt gets more energy after eating a Tarte Tatin. Tarte Tatin is great to prepare in an ovenproof pan.

  • 1 pack of fresh puff pastry from the
  • refrigerated shelf (approx. 280 g)
  • 3 apples (e.g. Boskop)
  • 80 g sugar plus 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 30 g butter
  • cinnamon for sprinkling (optional)
  • powdered sugar for dusting

1. Preheat the oven to 220 °C top/bottom heat (fan oven: 200 °C).

2. Wash, core and peel the apples and cut into slices about 5 mm thick. Add the sugar to the pan and let it melt over medium heat, stirring, until it turns a golden brown color.

3. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the butter so that the two components combine nicely. Now spread the apple slices on top. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Unroll the puff pastry and gather it up and place it over the apples. Prick several times with a fork and sprinkle with the remaining sugar.

4. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes until golden brown. Then turn the tart out using a flat plate and leave to cool. Dust with icing sugar before serving.

The cookbook should not be missing in any Witcher fan's kitchen

I'm happy that there is now an unofficial Witcher cookbook ! Because anyone who knows the books, games and the series knows that food is very important to Geralt and his companions.
