A Nightmare On Elm Street Review - Cult Horror Film

It was that time again a while ago: cult cinema evening at my local cinema and this time there were even two films to choose from. I hadn't seen the first film in the Predator series for a long time, but since I've always wanted to see A Nightmare on Elm Street , I naturally chose the latter.

What I thought before the film:

Freddy Krueger , one of the most iconic horror film killers, is of course well known. The fact that Johnny Depp had his first film role in the film was also more or less common knowledge. But that's basically all I have to say about this film.

In short, what happens in the movie:

Yes, of course this is a classic teen slasher as it is written in the textbook: four teenagers alone, having fun, slowly going to bed and suddenly one of them is haunted by a strange guy in her sleep. Blood spurts and of course someone had to lose their life due to the enormous blood loss. The haunting jumps from teenager to teenager.

What I thought after the film:

The horror films of those days are of course more comedies than real horror films today and that is simply because we are completely desensitized to the films that flicker across the cinema screens now. Everything is more threatening and somehow more realistic.

Nevertheless, I think old films like A Nightmare on Elm Street are great. Not only do I have a soft spot for classic horror films that sometimes really scare or disgust you, but also because they are hilarious in places. Whether that was intended back in the 80s is another matter.
In addition to the story, I also found the bag of tricks that the makers used during production extremely interesting.

I wish you wonderful dreams!
Francy
